Sustainable Health & Physical Excellence (SHAPE) Weight Management Program

Our insurance-covered Sustainable Health & Physical Excellence (SHAPE) Weight Management Program is a once weekly 12-week course held at the Hoag Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center to help individuals achieve sustainable wellness. The list of topics that will be covered include:

• Motivators for weight loss

• Setting realistic goals

• Understanding the role of physical activity

• Healthy snacking

• Mindful eating

• Emotional eating and managing stress

• Navigating restaurants and groceries

• Pros/cons of weight loss medications

• Exploring diets (eg DASH, Mediterranean, Intermittent Fasting, Keto/Low Carb)

• The role of sleep in weight management

• Importance of hydration

• Strategies for getting back on track

• Weekly 1:1 visits with a Physician/PA

• Group class and discussion guided by Registered Dietitian

• Curated education and moderated discussion

• Peer Support

• Medication Management (if you are on medication for weight loss)

• Support for related disorders (e.g., thyroid disease, PCOS, Cushing’s syndrome)

• Optional cash pay Metabolic Monitoring with INBODY body composition analyzer for assessing lean muscle versus fat

• Customization of calorie goals based on body composition analysis
